Croatian Cookies recipe

Ingredients:

½ lb of sweet butter.
4 egg whites.
1 egg yolk.
2 ½ cup of flour.
1 cup of sugar and ½ cup of sugar.
¾ cup of finely ground walnuts.
1 teaspoon of lemon extract.
½ teaspoon of salt.
Blackberry jelly.
Chopped nuts.

Preparation Instructions:

Cream butter and 1 cup of sugar; then add the egg yolk and salt.

Add the flour gradually and beat.

Pat the dough into thin layer in a 12*12 inch pan.

Beat the egg whites; add ½ cup of sugar until stands in stiff peaks.

Fold in the ground walnuts and flavouring.

Spread the blackberry jelly over and swirl meringue on top.

Sprinkle with chopped nuts; bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes.

Once warm, cut in squares.
